Balbi park

The Balbi park is an English type park, located next to the king's kitchen garden in Versailles. Its access is free and its entrance is located rue du Maréchal Joffre.

Chapel of the Palace

The present chapel of the Palace of Versailles is the fifth in the history of the palace. These chapels evolved with the expansion of the château and formed the focal point of the daily life of the court during the Ancien Régime.

City hall

The Versailles Hotel de Ville (city hall) consists of two distinct parts: along the rue du Général de Gaulle, facing the palace, sits a low building preceded by a wide staircase.

Coach Gallery

The Coach Gallery of the Palace of Versailles, situated in the King's Great Stables and closed to the public since 2007, will once again be opening its doors in the spring of 2016

Domaine of Madame Elisabeth

The castle or Domaine of Montreuil, known as Domaine of Mrs Elisabeth, located in the center of Versailles, shelters a park of 7,2 hectares. Louis XVI bought it in 1783 for his sister Elisabeth de France, known as Mrs Elisabeth.

Garden des Etangs Gobert

The Garden des Etangs Gobert is a public garden.

It was laid out on the site of the reservoirs built by Thomas Gobert, intendant of Louis XIV, to feed the fountains of the lower part of the park of the Castle of Versailles.

Gardens of Versailles

The Gardens of Versailles (French: Jardins du château de Versailles) occupy part of what was once the Domaine royal de Versailles, the royal demesne of the château of Versailles.

Hall of Mirrors

The Hall of Mirrors (French: Grande Galerie or Galerie des Glaces) is the central gallery of the Palace of Versailles.

Hotel des Menus Plaisirs

Built in 1741-1748, this hotel housed the prop-rooms for the court's games and spectacles.

Jeu de Paume room

The Jeu de Paume room is located rue du Jeu de paume, in the heart of the Saint-Louis district. It is famous for the oath of the Jeu de Paume which the deputies of the Third Estate lent to it on June 20, 1789.

Kitchen Garden of the King

The potager du Roi (Kitchen Garden of the King), near the Palace of Versailles, produced fresh vegetables and fruits for the table of the court of Louis XIV. It was created between 1678 and 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie, the director of the royal fruit and vegetable gardens.

Lycée Hoche

The Lycée Hoche is a public secondary school located in Versailles, not very far away from the famous Palace of Versailles. Formerly, it had been a nunnery founded by French queen Marie Leszczynska.

Maison des Musiciens Italiens

The House of the Italians in Versailles, sometimes called wrongly House of the Italian musicians, is a house of style rubble, set up in 1752 with 15 rue Champ-Lagarde in Versailles by Jacques Hardouin-Mansart (1711-1778), for the countess of Argenson marries separate of the count d' Argenson.

Montansier Theater

Inaugurated in 1777 in the presence of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, this theater with its lovely blue and gold auditorium is one of the oldest preserved in France.

 

Musée Lambinet

A lovely Louis XV private mansion now houses Versailles' municipal museum.

Notre Dame Market

 

Notre Dame Market is located in the heart of the Notre-Dame district. It was created more than 300 years ago by Louis XIV.

Pavillon des Gendarmes

The Pavillon des Gendarmes (or ancient hotel of the Gendarmes or Porte des Gendarmes) is a listed monument building (façade and gate) located at number 6 of the Avenue de Paris in Versailles.

Pershing - Lafayette monument

 

The Pershing - Lafayette monument is a memorial erected in 1937 in the heights of Versailles, in tribute to the American army during the First World War and to the Army of the American Independence War.

Petit Trianon

Petit Trianon; ("small Trianon"), built between 1762 and 1768 during the reign of Louis XV, is a small château located on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles. The park of the Grand Trianon includes the Petit Trianon.

Prefecture

Built in 1863-1866 by A. Manuel, the Hôtel du Département is in the style of a handsome Eighteenth Century hotel, with courtyard and garden. Its interior decoration is nonetheless very typical of the eclecticism of the Second Empire.

Saint-Symphorien church

The Saint-Symphorien church serves as the Montreuil district parish, and was built at the king's expense between 1764 and 1770 in an early neoclassical style.

Small Stable

The Petite Écurie was the other half of the royal stables and was run by the Premier Écuyer, known as Monsieur de Premier.

The Academy of Equestrian Arts, founded by Bartabas in 2003, is now located in the Grande Ecurie du Roi, which was built in 1678-1682 from plans by J. Hardouin-Mansart.

The Church of Notre-Dame

The Church of Notre-Dame, Versailles (French: Église Notre-Dame de Versailles) is a parish church in Versailles,  in the Rue de la Paroisse.

The Cimetière des Gonards

The Cimetière des Gonards is the largest cemetery in Versailles on the outskirts of Paris. It began operations in 1879. The cemetery covers an area of 130,000 square metres (32 acres) and contains more than 12,000 graves.

The Grand Commun

The Grand Commun, by its official name Grand Quarré des Offices-Commun, is a building located at 1, rue de l'Independance-Américaine and on the Rue des Récollets.

The Grand Trianon

The Grand Trianon is a château (palace) situated in the northwestern part of the Domain of Versailles. It was built at the request of King Louis XIV of France (1643–1715), as a retreat for himself and his maîtresse en titre of the time, the Marquise de Montespan (1640–1707), and as a place where he and invited guests could take light meals (collations) away from the strict étiquette of the Court.

The Hotel de la Guerre

The Hotel de la Guerre is the name of a building located at 3, rue de l'Indépendance-Américaine in Versailles, near the castle. It was built by Jean-Baptiste Berthier in 1760 to regroup various services then dispersed in Paris. It was one of the first buildings built in France to limit the risk of fire. It currently houses the Central Directorate of Defense Infrastructure Services of the French Army.

The Hotel des Affaires étrangères et de la Marine

The Hotel des Affaires étrangères et de la Marine is the name of a building located at 5, rue de l'Independance-Américaine in Versailles, near the castle. It was built by Jean-Baptiste Berthier in 1762 at the request of the Duke of Choiseul, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to house the services and archives of Foreign Affairs and Navy.

The Hotel des Réservoirs

The Hotel des Réservoirs is a private mansion located at 7-9 rue des Réservoirs, in the Notre-Dame district. The reservoirs of the park of Versailles are contiguous to the building.

The Hotel du Grand Contrôle

Hotel du Grand Contrôle is a hotel built in 1681, in the current street of the Independence-American, in Versailles. Located in the prolongation of the wing of the South of the castle and overlooking the gardens of the Orangerie, its construction has sometimes been attributed to Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1929.

The Lycée Sainte-Geneviève

The Lycée Sainte-Geneviève is a private lycée, located in Versailles and providing preparatory classes for grandes écoles. It was founded in Paris, April 1854. It is often nicknamed Ginette and sometimes BJ, standing for Boite à Jèzes - Box of Jesuits.

The Osmothèque

The Osmothèque (from Greek osmē "scent" patterned on French bibliothèque "library") is the world’s largest scent archive, a leading international research institution tracing the history of perfumery, based in Versailles with conference centers in New York City and Paris.

The Pavillon des Filtres is a building of Versailles built during the reign of Louis XVI and intended to filter water for the population of the city.

The Queen's Hamlet

The Hameau de la Reine, (The Queen's Hamlet) is a rustic retreat in the park of the Château de Versailles built for Marie Antoinette in 1783 near the Petit Trianon. It served as a private meeting place for the Queen and her closest friends, a place of leisure.

The Versailles Synagogue

The Versailles Synagogue is situated at 10, rue Albert Joly in Versailles in the Department of Yvelines. It is one of the oldest Synagogues in the Île-de-France.

Versailles Cathedral

Versailles Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Louis de Versailles) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and national monument of France, in Versailles.
It is the seat of the Bishop of Versailles, created as a constitutional bishopric in 1790 and confirmed by the Concordat of 1801.
