The ancient Richaud Hospital and its restaured chapel
It was in the late XVIIth century that Louis the XIVth created a charity house to meet the needs of his domestics in Versailles. Louis the XVth made it a royal hospital, with more attributions, and replaced the irregular premises in 1781 with the superb current buildings, completed in the XIXth century.
Jewel of neoclassical architecture, the chapel is the center of the architectural ensemble arranged as a H, by the architect J.F. Darnaudin. Disused since 1981, the buildings have been the subject of a complete restoration, completed in 2015, and are now primarily used to housing.
